If you are a new member of the Central Okanagan Naturalists’ Club or you are not a member but would like to try one of our excursions, please contact the Birding Director at birding@okanagannature.org. You will be provided with details of the next outing, where the meeting place is and any particular rules of participation.

Monday Birding

Held every Monday except for statutory holidays, during the Christmas Bird Count period and during the month of August (summer recess).

Monday excursions focus on birding while walking local trails over approximately a three-hour period.

During the period October to March the walks commence at 9am.

Between April and the end of September the walks start at 8am.

The birding group typically meet at a predetermined location at the start of the selected trail.

Carpooling is sometimes recommended depending upon the location of the start of the walking location.

Details on route and meeting location are provided by email the preceding Friday.

Thursday Birding

Held every Thursday except for statutory holidays, during the Christmas Bird Count period and during the month of August (summer recess).

Typically a driving “stop-and-go” outing to explore local birding “hotspots” around Kelowna over approximately a three hour period. The amount of time spent at each location is dependant upon bird activity.

During the period October to March the walks commence at 9am.

Between April and the end of September the walks start at 8am.

Details on the route are provided by email the preceding Tuesday.

Meet at the Apple Bowl 1555 Burtch Road, corner of Burtch and Bernard.

Car pooling is encouraged. The rate paid to the driver is shown on the Activities page.

Saturday Birding

Held the second Saturday of each month (except December, January, February and August).

A day-long excursion that allows our member birders to explore areas between Osoyoos and Salmon Arm.

Details on the route are provided by email the preceding Thursday.

Meet at the Apple Bowl 1555 Burtch Road, corner of Burtch and Bernard at 7:45 am (April through September) or 8:45 am (October, November and March).

Bring a lunch and refreshments. We usually return mid- to late-afternoon.
